This landmark compilation has introduced generations of fans to the incredible history of the most storied band in music. For its 50th anniversary, the collection has been expanded with 9 additional tracks, including “Blackbird”, “Glass Onion” and the new song, “Now And Then”. The last Beatles song, “Now And Then” completes John Lennon’s 1970s vocal and piano demo recording with parts played by Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, as well as a new arrangement for strings.

The 2CD collection now features 37 tracks, 6 of which have new mixes for 2023. The booklet contains new sleeve notes by journalist and author John Harris. For current fans and future generations alike, the new 1967 – 1970 collection is a joyous celebration of The Beatles’ timeless musical legacy.

Not the Red & Blue Albums Beatles Fans Have Known and Loved

Why add a song from 2023 to an album meant to include only songs from 1967-1970? How is "I Me Mine" included among the Beatles "best"? Why are experimental album tracks like "Within You, Without You" and "I Want You" included among the Beatles most tuneful songs? Why are cover songs included on an album intended for only originals? Where is the top 5 single and concert favorite "She's a Woman"? Where is the climax to the entire Beatles career: "The End" (or "Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End"? Still, there are an awful lot of terrific songs. But the original Red & Blue versions are better.

3rd disk had a problem, maybe a bad pressing

Sound quality for disks 1 and 2 was great. But the third disk had a sort of rumble or vibration all along both sides of disk 3. It\'s even present during the quiet parts with no music, so it\'s not that the music was recorded with distortion, and we checked that it wasn\'t our needle. Will be returning for a replacement because maybe it was just a bad pressing of that disk. Otherwise I would have rated the set 5 stars.

I must first admit to being a Beatles fan for over 50 years so I'm not likely to give a bad review. Having said that, It seem to me that the blue album "Beatles 67-70" has been remastered, Didn\'t know or see anything for that to have happened but lisening to "while my guitar" it seems George is moaning or whatever longer at the end or is that my imagination. I really like "Now and Then" thats why I really bought this, have it on album, Cd x2 now. get It!

'Now & Then' should have been left in the 'can'. Another dirge like 'Free As A Bird'. George put it best,"Ihope after I die somebody pays Olivia millions of $$$ for my crappiest demos". This song seems like McCartneys desperate hope for a 'last' #1 song. The rest of this unneeded release. Sound quality not very good , neither are the new mixes. The digitally extracted stereo mixes REALLY don"t work. I've always preferred the mixes done for 'Anthology' , 'Let It Be Naked' & 'Yellow Submarine Songbook'. Giles Martin work is too bright,too compressed & they don"t do justice to these classics. This release is intended to garner a new wave of fans , I get that!! But how about the 'Die Hard Fans' who have paid the 'freight' for
60 years??? These albums are akin to re-releasing "Rock & Roll Music","Love Songs" etc. it wasn\'t needed.
As for the "Rubber Soul" tracks one can only hope the outtakes on the upcoming boxset are great because the new mixes ain\'t. I'm a Die Hard & I'm very disappointed in these re-issues. Give credit to Apple they know how to empty our wallets for unnecessary releases. That atrocious movie 'Eight days A Week' & now this.

I don’t know if it is my copy or it is a problem with the entire edition! In my 4 CD players, bedroom, living room, music room and car, CD one only play until before Revolution! I don’t care too much about it since I have the original, but CD 3 only plays until Let It Be and it doesn’t play after that! The only reason I bought this re issued was because of the new song but I can’t even get there! Very bad and very sad! I wonder of everybody have the same problem? Said that, the sound of the songs than I can play is amazing!

En el 50 aniversario de la publicación de esta antología se ha optado sabiamente por expandir con más canciones y proporcionarnos como final "Now And Then" con la voz de John Lennon rescatada de una demo defectuosa gracias al software IA (Inteligencia Artificial) de Peter Jackson. La expansión nos proporciona más canciones de esta segunda época de Beatles (ya prefigurada en Revolver que cierra el Disco Rojo), un salto muy cualitativo sin el cual hubieran sido un grupo de jovencitos que nos hubiera legado unos cuantos bonitos estándars de música popular pero poco más. Una gran antología mire por donde se mire.

Respecto a "Now And Then", los Beatles quedarán también como pioneros de la utilización artística de la IA, aquí sensatamente aprovechada para extraer y rescatar la voz de Lennon, no como ocurre en videos de Youtube con el timbre de un cantante para que suene en la canción de otro que nunca ha versionado esa cancion. La IA, a mi juicio, tiene un sentido serio y ético para lo de Lennon y el rescate de grabaciones en mono para hacerlas en estéreo o de grabaciones de estudio o en vivo que directamente tienen mala calidad en su origen.

Wenn man die bisherigen Remix-Alben schon besitzt, hat man von den insgesamt 37 Titeln schon 30 im Regal, im Gegensatz zum roten Album hat man hier also relativ deutlich weniger neues zu hören. Die sechs neuen Remixes sind, wie erhofft, der Knaller. Lediglich bei Hey Bulldog bin ich mir (besseres Stereo-Bild hin oder her) nicht sicher, ob mir die Version vom Yellow Submarine Songtrack nicht vom Sound her besser gefällt. Aber bisher hatte ich bei allen Remix-Alben seit Sgt. Pepper irgendwo etwas, das mir weniger gut gefiel, lieben tue ich sie trotzdem. Und das tolle ist, das man sie kaufen kann, ohne seine Mono-Box vorher wegwerfen zu müssen. Klare Kaufempfehlung!
